Have a night on the Savoy

Long synonymous with luxury, the Savoy Hotel is very particular about its beds. Since 1905, the Savoy bed has been handmade by craftsmen at James Edwards, a factory in Drury Lane bought by the hotel group after the war. Until recently, this sleep experience could only be experienced by guests spending a night at the Savoy, The Berkeley, Claridge's or the Lygon Arms, many of whom, including the Aga Khan's family, Emma Thompson and Lord Lichfield, placed orders for beds of their own before leaving. King Hussan of Morocco ordered twenty-four after a stay at Claridge's, during which he slept 'as though on a cloud'. Now this exclusive bed is more widely available through Savoir Beds. The beds which take thirty hours to construct, are made to order and special shapes can be custom made for antique and four poster beds, or yachts, for example.
